Cat's cradle by kurt vonnegut ★★★★☆ dial press, 1998 originally published in 1963 this is one of those books that's more interesting to think about than it is to read. It’s funny how such a short book can have so many layers, and hidden messages to be discovered. Well, this was my review of cat’s cradle. Cat’s cradle by kurt vonnegut jr.

It’s a classic, and i’m a bit embarrassed that i had never read it until now. I am used to weird books, as a whole. It requires a lot of understanding of symbolism and good connection skills.

I love the author's voice that clearly projects itself, a natural misandry and dead pan humour combine. I mean i guess it’s kinda funny, but not like i’m laughing or anything. There are several significantly strong postmodern concepts vonnegut brings into view in this novel.

In the end, cat’s cradle is a highly imaginative work of satire. Suri is mischievous and strong. It's one of the most accessible.

Satire science fiction published in 1963 by. Vonnegut's cat's cradle is one of the great postmodern novels. This is the way it’s supposed to be.

Hasty and jokey, cat's cradle begins as a satire about a journalist's attempt to investigate the life of one of the creators of the atomic bomb, but ends as a bleak allegory about the annihilation of life on earth. It was such an enjoyable and interesting journey that only vonnegut could truly create. His world view has always seemed to me to be without illusion, though sometimes lacking in joy or hope.

Let me start off by saying that cat’s cradle was a good book, but super weird. First is the idea of truth, which he satirizes though the religion bokononism. “no damn cat, and no damn cradle.” (vonnegut 66).

To this day, i still do not understand the deep meaning and symbolism behind it. Cat's cradle is an irreverent and often highly entertaining fantasy concerning the playful irresponsibility of nuclear scientists. First published in 1963 during the cold war and six years before the moon landing, cat’s cradle takes a look at the destructive creations made by science, the ownership of these products of destruction, and the power relationship in government.

Cat's cradle is a short book unhindered by lengthy exposition or world building, there is no wasted space at all and the rich, intelligent dialogue combined with brief chapters means that many people could read this in one or two sittings. It’s crazy to me to think that he wrote this back in the 1960’s (i think that’s right) yet everything he so masterly weaves into this novel about humanity and society is easily relevant today. This quote encompasses the satiric postmodern themes of absolute truth in vonnegut’s cat’s cradle.
